This wiki will be a site where we will discuss in Spanish movies and the reasons why we rent, go to the theater, and what the types of movies we watch says about us.

 

We will also compare and contrast what kind of movies become popular in the Hispanic world and find out about the movie industry there.

 

This an opportunity to engage in conversations about a cultural activity that we share with many in the world.

 

 

Materials Needed: A computer with Internet capability and microphones. Audacity or Garage Band software.

 

The class will be working in the computer lab where they will have access to computer with internet.

 

Activity instructions:

 

A)

 

1.) In groups of two the students will discuss what their favorite movies are and why. Also they should talk about who they like to watch movies with and if they prefer videos or actually to go to the movie theater.

 

2.) The students will volunteer to share their conversation with class.

 

B)

 

1.) The students will explore this internet site:

2. ¿Qué tipo de película es? (e.g., musical, romántica, etc.)

5. ¿Cómo se llama la actriz principal de la película?

6. ¿De dónde es la película? (España, Estados Unidos, etc.)

C)

 

1. After gathering all the information the students will discuss and critique the two movies giving two different points of view.

Choose one movie and record a review to recommend or not recommend that movie.

 

In the recording, the students need to state their names, give a brief summary about the movie and who is in it. Then take turns to give their personal opinion about the movie.

 

Be creative: add music and possible commentary pertinent to the movie.

 

Convert it into an Mp3 file and mail it to me.

 

We will be discussing more during the next class time about movies, our opinions, and what kind of movies people from Hispanic countries enjoy the most.

 

We will also watch the files in class. You can always add more to your comments and hear your classmates opinions about the movies.
